Artificial Grass For Dogs

By Blog

If you’re a dog owner, you may have reservations about getting an artificial lawn. We get it, your dog is a member of your family and they most likely enjoy the garden just as much as you (if not more). We want to share with you four reasons why our dog-owning customers love their New lawn. Read on!

It’s Easy to Clean

Even the most regularly walked dog will use the garden as a toilet at some point. Artificial lawns are well equipped to handle animal urine and faeces and, with regular cleaning, you won’t see any ill effects upon your lawn.

Dog urine can cause natural grass to die or turn yellow. This is not the case with artificial grass as liquid simply drains through the perforated holes. All that we recommend is that you clean your lawn regularly either with your garden hose, a bucket of warm, soapy water,  or by applying a mixture of water and vinegar. This will wash away any bacteria and  neutralise odours that may build up – particularly if your pooch has a favourite spot for doing his business!

Fun All Year Round

Do you dread letting your dog into  the garden after rain? Dog Friendly Artificial Grass

We know there’s nothing worse than muddy paw prints tracked through your house, but with Newlawn artificial grass, this will never be a problem again.

Dogs are far less likely to dig up artificial grass because there isn’t any treasure underneath for them to try and reach. Come rain or snow, water simply drains away instead of pooling on the surface meaning no muddy puddles (or paws!). With an artificial lawn, your dog can roam free and all that is needed is a quick dry before they come back into the house.

It’s Safer

As a dog owner, you probably already know that natural lawns can carry all sorts of dangers for your pet.

Artificial grass can greatly reduce the risk of your dog contracting lungworm, a disease brought about by consuming an infected worm or slug. This is more likely to happen on natural lawns, where these insects make their home. Another great bonus is that artificial grass does not require fertilisers or any other additional chemicals that could be harmful to dogs. So you can relax while your dog enjoys the garden, safe in the knowledge that they will remain healthy and happy.

Dog-Friendly Zone

Our customers dogs love their new lawns. We use only the best quality across all of Our Ranges, which means your dog won’t even notice the difference. The grass is both soft and bouncy, ideal for relaxation and boisterous play.  What’s more, your dog won’t be able to kick up chunks of turf or bury anything underneath the lawn. Instead, you can enjoy a perfect, lush green lawn throughout the year, even with the most mischievous of pups!

FAQ – Your Pet and Artificial Grass

By Blog

Artificial grass is a low maintenance, pet friendly solution to a lush, green garden that can withstand wind, rain, snow, and Rex!  Here are the most commonly asked questions our customers with pets ask us about our artificial grass – and their answers of course!

Q: Is artificial grass safe for my pet?

A: Absolutely! Our artificial grass is made from a combination of nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene, which is pet (and child!) friendly. With no need for fertiliser or harmful weed killer, you can rest assured that your pet is safe in your garden.

Q: Can my pet damage the grass?

A: We design our artificial grass to be highly durable, so it can cope with even the most energetic of animals. What’s more, pets are less likely to dig up or kick at artificial grass as there is no soil underneath for them to get at. This means that you will have a pristine lawn all year round.

Q: Will pet faeces and urine stain my artificial grass?

A: Many of our customers come to us looking for artificial grass as their pets have ruined their natural lawn. One fantastic aspect of grass is that urine and faeces do not kill the lawn off, or leave stains, even after prolonged exposure.

Q: Will my pet hate artificial grass?

A: Definitely not! Our artificial grass is comfortable and springy – the perfect area for your pet to play and relax! In our experience, animals love our artificial grass and soon find a comfortable spot to call their own.

Q: How do I care for my artificial lawn?

A: One of the many advantages of artificial lawns is that they are low maintenance. They do not need mowing, feeding, or much weeding, which leaves you free to enjoy your garden instead.

We know that pets can be messy, but artificial lawns make cleaning up after your pet much easier. Urine drains through the perforations in the lawn rather than pooling at the top, so no mopping up after they’ve been to the toilet, and the short pile height makes picking faeces up clean and easy. The only maintenance we recommend is hosing down areas your pet may favour to prevent any unpleasant smells from building up. We also recommend picking up faeces as soon as possible to avoid them getting trodden into the lawn.

Q: Which artificial turf is most suitable for my pet?

A: The short answer to this question is: all of them! No matter your budget, you can find a lawn that is pet friendly at New Lawn. Check out our different ranges of artificial grass that we supply and install here.

Q: I’m ready to get an artificial lawn installed in my garden. What do I do next?

A: If you’re ready to go ahead, have any more questions, or would like a free sample of our grass, then get in touch today. We love chatting to our customers, so we aim to get back to you within 24 hours of your enquiry.

5 Reasons Artificial Grass Is Great For Pets

By Blog

“Is artificial grass pet friendly?”

This is one of the most frequently asked questions we hear from our customers. The answer is a resounding YES.

In fact, artificial grass can be a better solution for homes with pets than traditional lawns. Here are five reasons why you should get artificial grass for your garden!

It’s 100% Safe

Naturally, you wouldn’t want to introduce anything into your garden that might cause your pet to become ill. All the materials that go into making Newlawn artificial grass are completely safe for both animals and humans alike.  In fact, most of the materials we use are commonly utilised in food packaging that you use every day.

What’s more, artificial grass eliminates the need for you to use any harmful chemicals, such as fertiliser, that may pose a threat to animals. That means you and your furry friend can enjoy your garden without worrying about a trip to the vet!

No Mess!

Sick of cleaning up muddy paw prints off your carpet? Artificial grass is the way to go!

We’ve all felt the pain of letting our pet into the garden after a downpour only for them to roll energetically in the mud. With artificial grass, you’ll never have this problem again.

All Newlawn artificial grass is designed and installed to efficiently drain away rainwater, ensuring it does not sit on top of the grass. Our lawns dry quickly and have no soil underneath for your pet to get to, so there’s less chance of them getting dirty after being out in the garden, rain or shine!

A Healthy Lawn All Year Round

Our artificial grass is colourfast and UV resistant, so you can be sure your lush-looking lawn won’t fade over time. Not only that, you’ll never have to worry about watering your lawn or looking out at a dry (or dead!) lawn during the drier months.

Another great benefit of artificial grass is that it doesn’t get stained by animal faeces or urine. Like rain, urine drains through the perforated holes in the grass without staining your lawn. As for faeces, the short pile height means it is easily picked up and disposed of; all that you need to do is give the area a quick once over with the hose to prevent any unpleasant smells over time.

It’s Tough

Animals love a bit of rough and tumble and with artificial grass you can be sure your lawn won’t be ruined by a boisterous pet.

The make-up of artificial grass is completely different to that of real turf, which means animals aren’t likely to try and dig it up in a bid to find treasure! Not only that but, due to our design, blades of grass cannot be pulled up or knocked out by energetic play, which means your lawn never looks patchy or bare.

Pets Love It

We know you want to create a garden space that is comfortable for both you and your pet. Newlawn artificial grass provides a soft Is Artificial Grass Pet Friendly?surface for your pet to relax on all year round.

If you are concerned that your pet won’t take to an artificial lawn, we can assure you that won’t be the case. In fact, most animals can’t even tell the difference as our grass is almost indistinguishable from natural turf. The lush green colour means your pet won’t have to adapt, and the soft, springy feel underfoot will have them frolicking about it no time!

We understand that your pet is a valued part of your family, so it’s no surprise that you would take them into account when choosing a New Lawn. Our artificial grass is 100% pet friendly across all Our Ranges and is a beautiful, low maintenance solution for any garden.  Contact Us today to arrange a free on-site quotation and to find out more about a new lawn that you (and your pet) will love!

Artificial Grass Maintenance Tips

By Blog

Now that you have made the leap and decided to replace your lawn with realistic and affordable artificial grass, you are likely wondering how to take care of it properly. After all, you have a made an investment, and now it is time to ensure that you treat it well.

Artificial grass will save you money in the long run, as you will never need to water, mow or reseed your lawn again. While it’s true that artificial grass is incredibly low maintenance, there are a few things that you need to know about keeping it looking its best. Here are our top artificial grass maintenance tips.

  • Stock up on the right tools and equipment

Now that you have made the decision to install artificial grass, you can kiss some tools goodbye. That said, you will need a few things to keep your lawn looking great. Make sure you have a hose (for rinsing waste), a stiff brush and a leaf blower on hand.

  • Keep your turf clean and free from debris

Over time, your artificial grass might accumulate a layer of debris, dirt and dust on its surface. This won’t harm it, but it will start to look less appealing. Clean off this debris with a garden hoover, leaf blower or lawn sweeper.

  • Assess how often you need to tend to your turf

Now that you have an artificial grass lawn, you need to tend to it approximately every three months. That said, if you have pets or kids playing on your grass, you should rinse it with water more often. Clean spills, animal waste and mess as soon as possible.

  • Keep your lawn smelling sweet

While a stinky smell won’t negatively affect your turf, you might want to avoid it for your own peace of mind. If your pet urinates or defecates on your lawn on a regular basis in the same area, you should rinse it with vinegar and water, or clean it with an enzyme cleaner.

  • Brush your lawn regularly

Natural grass stands upright, and so too should artificial grass. However, over time even the highest quality artificial grass will bend. In order to keep it looking its natural best, brush it regularly with a stiff brush. Synthetic bristles are great, but stay away from metal bristles that could damage your grass. Brush in a firm manner in the direction of the pile.

Why is artificial grass a good choice for my garden

By Blog

One of life’s great pleasures is looking out the window and seeing that the perpetual rain has finally stopped. Now it’s the best time to head outside and have a lovely BBQ in the garden. Just head to the shops and grab some fixings, some nice things to drink and a few extra lawn chairs…. and some lawn seed. And some fertiliser. And some weed killer. Ok, maybe the BBQ isn’t such a good idea after all.

With the constant rains of the South of England, it can be a tough endeavour to try to keep an urban lawn. Just when you think that the weather has dried out enough to start enjoying your garden, it can get far too dry. Your lush lawn can easily turn into an arid desert, filled with cracks and runnels that look ghastly and track dust into the house.

Just when you start to think that you should just call it quits and back a load of wet cement onto your lawn, don’t give up just yet. If you want a lush and dramatic garden that becomes the envy of your neighbours, there is a simple answer: install artificial grass.

I know, I know – you might be thinking that the artificial grass of the past looks cheap, obvious or ‘fake,’ but today’s artificial grass looks more natural and lush than ever. It is virtually impossible to tell the difference between natural grass and artificial grass, and the installation and maintenance processes could not be easier.

No matter what the weather is doing outside, artificial grass can transform your space into the perfect place to spend time, enjoy a picnic and even finally host that BBQ! Families who choose to make the change to artificial grass report spending a lot more time outside than ever before, dining al fresco, playing a game of boules or simply just unwinding after a long day. Even shortly after the rain, your garden is ready to go – the ground will not be sodden or muddy.

You have spent money on your garden, and you value your family’s happiness and health. So why not ensure that everyone can spend a lot more time out in the fresh air, enjoying each other’s company and maintaining an active lifestyle?

If you have questions about installing an artificial lawn in the South of England, give us a call or send us an email. The team here at New Lawn are happy to help.

Our Top Artificial Grass FAQs

By Blog

As one of the top artificial grass companies in the South of England, the team here at New Lawn regularly fields all kinds of common questions. Whether you are wondering if you need to water your artificial grass (seriously, people ask!) or just want to know how to keep your investment looking its best, here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions.

  • Is artificial grass expensive?

Artificial grass is a very cost effective solution, it is a lot more affordable than you might think. When the initial costs are in the past, you will actually start saving a lot of money. You will no longer need to splash out on seed, fertiliser, and lawn care, not to mention all the time you spend on cutting the lawn!

  • What is artificial grass made from?

Artificial grass is usually made from a combination of a few completely safe materials. These are polyethylene, nylon and polypropylene, materials that are often used in food packaging and storage.

  • How can I care for my artificial grass?

It is incredibly easy to keep your artificial grass looking its best. In order to care for your lawn, regularly brush it in the direction of the natural pile. Use a leaf blower or brush to remove fallen leaves, and always rotate heavy items to different places in your garden in order to prevent flattening over time. Having a BBQ? Make sure that heat and ashes stay away from your lawn (put the BBQ on a patio) in order to prevent melting.

  • Do I need to water my artificial grass?

You do not need to water your artificial turf, but if your dog or cat relieves themselves on its surface it is a good idea to rinse it down on a regular basis!

  • Will my artificial grass be ok in the rain?

As we are located in the South of England, this is an incredibly common question! People always want to know if their artificial grass will be able to handle a downpour, or many days of sustained showers. It is absolutely fine, the groundwork we complete will be able to drain the water to ensure it does not sit on top of the grass.

  • Will snow and ice ruin my artificial grass?

While we don’t get too much snow in the South of England, it can get very chilly here. A few flurries are not uncommon, and waking up to a sheet of frost and ice is common throughout the winter months. Thankfully, snow and ice will not ruin your artificial grass.
